Clarity and Simplicity - The Mies Bruno Chair

When you walk down Park Ave around 52nd Street, you can not miss the elegant Seagram Building. It had an enormous affect on American architecture with its visible structural elements, steel frame and glass walls. Same when you travel around Lake Michigan, and notice the famous glass and steel Lake Shore Drive Apartments - a Chicago Landmark and a piece of historic architecture.

Both of these buildings were designed by Ludwig Mies van der Rohe. Mies was a German American architect that created influential buildings and designs that remain memorable because of their extreme clarity and simplicity.

Mies also designed and created a line of modern furniture. He created the classic "Mies Chairs" like Barcelona chair and the Bruno chair using new industrial methods that immediately became classic. His sign was visible separation between the chair’s structure and seating surface.

The Bruno chair is a classic addition to any office or home. At www.escadesigns.com you can find a reproduction of the classic Mies design, handcrafted with fine leather and leather-matching vinyl, constructed using individual leather panels, each piece cut and hand-sewn.
