"Anyone can make a three-legged table!" Really?!
Since the Noguchi Coffee Table was first introduced in 1948, it became one of the most distinguished pieces of furniture of the last century. Named for its designer, the sculptor Isamu Noguchi, the Noguchi Coffee Table celebrates the marriage between form and function, and offers its owner a structure that is both sculpture and furniture.
The classic table was originally created in 1944 with a simple design that was made of three elements alone – a glass top and two wooden base pieces. Herman Miller adopted the table and mass produced the piece that became an immediate success.
The table was made as a part of a challenge. “Anyone can make a three-legged table” once said a designer to Noguchi, but it turned out that no one can make a three legged table like Noguchi… The rest is history.
At Esca Designs you can find a quality reproduction that is manufactured to the same specifications as the original.
