what came first, the chicken or the Egg Chair?

Minimalist wooden furniture are usually inspired by the Danish Modern, a popular design movement that was famous during the 1940s through the 1960s. A leader of the Danish Modern was Arne Emil Jacobsen, one of Denmark’s most famous designers. Many of his classic designs, including the Swan chair and Series 7 chair are still very popular today, as witnessed by sales of over 5 million series 7 chairs since its inception in 1955.

The Egg Chair is also an unforgettable Jacobsen piece. It was designed in 1958 for the Royal Hotel in Copenhagen, and became a modern classic because of its unique shape which offers privacy, even in public places.

The first Egg Chair was cast in plaster in Jacobsen’s garage, but when you buy an Egg Chair you get a synthetic shell, padded with cold foam and covered with the highest quality microfiber on a cross-shaped aluminum base with a satin polish.

The Egg Chair is on sale, online, and only at www.escadesigns.com!
